Started the day at 5:30 a.m. with a Bible study with a man from church, working through Disciples of a Godly Man. Very encouraging, mutually edifying. Driving home at 7:00 a.m. to a beautiful hint of sunrise. Upon arrival at home I found Lydia already up with Hannah downstairs—you know Hannah loved that. Read Titus 1 for devotions. Several good points in this chapter, but the last verse is in my mind (probably because it was the last verse read!)—
They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.
Salvation is by grace through faith, but salvation also has good works as its necessary evidence (Eph 2:8-10; Jas 2:14-26)
Finalized my notes for this week’s Bible class (1 Timothy and Titus). Voted, picked up $1000 worth of free insulin (praise the Lord), bought laundry detergent. Had to get the house ready for company, as there’s no heat at the Community Center, so Bible class is here at home! Wrote two blog posts, one about training pastors, another about the alleged need to be a charismatic in order to really deal with and handle cancer.
Heard a good report from Greenville that Meagan did well in her piano performances.
Worked on my presentation on “What the Amish Believe About Salvation” for this coming Thursday’s Northeast Ohio Pastors’ Fellowship.
