Andy At Receiving USMC

Here are some pix of my oldest son Andy and others of his company (Kilo) at Parris Island last week Monday.

Here’s who greeted him and his fellow recruits on the bus (most of the following text is from the USMC Parris Island Facebook page):

Staff Sgt. Daron King, a receiving senior drill instructor, surveys the newest recruits of Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, before ordering them off the bus and onto the yellow footprints Jan. 14. Recruits were quickly ordered off the bus before King detailed what would be expected of them during training.

(Dan:) Once off the bus they made a phone call; this recruit wasn’t looking straight ahead and quickly learned that during the next three months he will only look and move where he’s told:

  1. I would be dead if I tried to go through boot camp. I know there is a reason for the way the drill instructor treats everyone, but I am afraid I would just want to laugh all the time! Then they would kill me…
