A Sad Day for the USA

Our President has declared June as “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.” Read the official release by clicking here.

I’m not going to give an in-depth analysis, but I will point out a few things:

• The second paragraph begins with “LGBT Americans have made, and continue to make, great and lasting contributions that continue to strengthen the fabric of American society.” My head is shaking in disbelief. Our country’s fabric has been strengthened? The only way that has happened is if it was completely torn apart and then sewn back together into something entirely different.
• The second paragraph ends with “LGBT Americans also mobilized the Nation to respond to the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic and have played a vital role in broadening this country’s response to the HIV pandemic.” They mobilized it alright. Not surprisingly, nothing is said about the role that LGBT has had in the spread of the HIV pandemic.
• Later, our President says “At the international level, I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world.” I have never been thrilled about the UN, especially with regard to the surrender of our national autonomy.
• “Here at home, I continue to support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans. These measures include enhancing hate crimes laws, supporting civil unions and Federal rights for LGBT couples, outlawing discrimination in the workplace, ensuring adoption rights.” No doubt anyone who disagrees with the President here and voices such disagreement will be branded as committing a “hate crime.” Also, I hate to point out the patently obvious, but why does this group of Americans need adoption rights?
• “If we can work together to advance the principles upon which our Nation was founded, every American will benefit.” Wasn’t one of those principles free speech (the first amendment)? Also, if I am not actively working with other Americans to advance these national principles with regard to LGBT, will I be branded as un-American, a traitor, subversive, and an enemy of the state?

I don’t believe that in our current dispensation LGBT should be physically harmed or treated maliciously (we don’t live in OT Israel, and Christ’s kingdom has yet to be established, where in both situations such merit the death penalty). I do believe such lifestyles are sinful and wrong, as Scripture plainly identifies such practices as such. I have a biblical responsibility and privilege (and for now, at least, the right as an American citizen) to call all sinners to repentance and point them to Jesus Christ, who can cleanse them of their sin and give them new life that will enable them to live God-honoring lives.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name or the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

As one’s beliefs determine practice and policy, and as LGBT is definitely not the result of orthodox Christianity, our nation is taking yet another sad step. Romans 1:18-32 testifies of the degressive effect sin has upon people, culminating in the complete perversion of moral values:

and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them (Romans 1:32).

Our President may think that one’s “sexual orientation” is merely a personal thing that has no effect upon his actions, but this is not the case. What one practices one lives, believes in, and seeks to promote. There is an underlying morality that does affect subsequent decisions and actions. As this practice continues, our nation–unless God shows mercy–will further descend into the morass of sin, depravity, and perversion of all that is right and good.

Lastly, it’s a sad day for the USA when our President closes his pronouncement with “in the year of our Lord.”

A sad day indeed. May God show mercy to our nation.
